Don't ask me why I spent my Sunday morning perusing the net for innovative egg packaging—but I did.
There are many sources for chicken paraphernalia locally as well as through the web. Finding an organic food source seems more challenging. I will be sharing information on organic chicken feed as well as other products on this section of the site.
The American country feed store evokes a sense of nostalgia for me. Living in rural Idaho, I have fond memories of visiting our local feed store as a child. The steps leading up to the entrance were steep, there was a sweet smell of milled grain in the air, and the candy was just out of my reach as it sat in the big jar on the shelf. I got excited when my grandfather took me there, and I always remember how nice the man was behind the counter.
When I began sourcing organic chicken feed I stumbled upon Legacy Feed and Fuel, a charming country feed store just a stone's throw from Interstate I-84 in Meridian, Idaho. As I pulled into the parking lot I was instantly hit with a familiar sense of nostalgia. I don’t know exactly what it was, perhaps the way the farm and ranch supplies were organized and displayed at the front of the building, or the architecture of the building itself. What ever it was, this feed store was beckoning me to see what was inside.
