Have you ever heard the phrase “It’s five o’clock somewhere?” Growing up five o’clock meant one thing — chore time. I’d put on my rubber boots and off I’d trot to feed the baby calves and help with milking. Being a young teen I could think of a lot of activities I would rather be doing. Fast-forward a handful of decades and I find my agrarian roots having a reawakening of sorts.  So, get comfy, grab yourself a cup of Joe as I take you on an agrarian adventure here at the Roost. No rubber boots required.


Super Bowl 2015—what a game! With all the pregame talk about deflated balls and grabbing one's balls, who would have thought that passing the ball would result in so much after-game chatter.

With all the buzz kill about the lackluster football game, the disheartening commercials, and the rumor of Seattle having a 12th man on the field (is that fair?) the Real Housewives of Le Poule Roost were having so much fun they barely noticed. Plans for Superbowl XLVIII were a year in the making, and it did not disappoint—even if the game was a bit of a yawner.

The news came in April after Jack returned home from his annual doctor visit. "The doctor wants to run more tests," and with those words catipulted a series of events which had I not been watching from my front row seat I would not have believed it. They found a tumor on Jack's pancreas. The future flashed before me without the ability to contain it—what would I do without Jack?
